Ants

Q

Learn about and identify common pests

Adult ants species come in a variety of shapes and sizes but each will be one of three different colony castes; queens, workers or males. Queens are fertile females that lay all the eggs in a colony. Workers are wingless females that gather food, feed larvae, maintain the nest, defend the colony, and do not reproduce. Male ants are winged and their only job is to mate with the queens during the swarming process.

Ant infestations are typically caused by the search for food, water, and shelter. Ants enter homes looking for accessible food sources, such as crumbs, spills, or improperly stored food. Moisture is another attractant, with ants often being drawn to areas with water leaks or high humidity, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Additionally, ants seek shelter in small cracks and crevices in walls, foundations, and around windows and doors. Poor sanitation, easy access points, and favorable environmental conditions inside and outside the home can contribute to ant infestations.

We utilize a combination of sprays and granules outside the home on nests and bait traps inside to ensure your entire home is covered and protected from ants. Once we identify where the ants are getting inside or nesting, targeted treatment options are implemented to cut off the infestation at its source.

Cockroaches

Q

Learn about and identify common pests

Cockroaches are common pests that love to live in damp, dark, and warm places. On top of being agile, infesting rapidly, and spreading diseases, these pests typically require expert treatment to be effectively eradicated.

Cockroach infestations are driven by the need for food, moisture, and shelter. Cockroaches are attracted to food residues, garbage, and pet food, thriving in warm, damp environments. Poor sanitation, such as unsealed food and crumbs, contributes to their presence. Structural deficiencies, including cracks and crevices, allow cockroaches to enter and hide within homes. High humidity levels in kitchens, bathrooms, and basements also create ideal conditions for cockroach infestations.

For cockroaches, our experts take a thorough approach to ensure that these pests are appropriately targeted and treated. We utilize a combination of dusting treatments and bait options near entryways in the home, around furniture, and in the dark and damp places that cockroaches love to live, making sure these tricky pests stay away.

Learn about and identify common pests

Mosquitos are among the most obnoxious, common, and disruptive pests homeowners face. They often make enjoying the outdoors difficult and cause annoying itchy bites. Mosquitos are also technically the most deadly animal in the world, carrying deadly diseases and spreading fast.

Mosquito infestations are caused by standing water where they lay their eggs. Common sources include bird baths, clogged gutters, and any containers that hold water. For mosquitoes, our experts utilize various types of treatments including targeted sprays, foggers, and water treatments. We target shaded areas, trees, bushes, and under eaves to ensure that any mosquitoes on your property are addressed.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there multiple services in a year?

Different seasons can bring different pests. Regular treatments throughout the year can create a barrier around your house that makes it difficult for pests to enter, reducing the risk of reinfestation as the seasons change.

How often does Aptive perform treatments?

Depending on your plan, we have different schedules to suit your needs. Following your initial treatment, your first standard service usually occurs in the next 20-60 days. After that, Aptive schedules recurring services during the year based on the service plan you select.

Why am I seeing more pest activity after my initial service?

The initial treatment is a flushing treatment. While it can reduce activity levels, it also draws pests out so we can target them more effectively at your subsequent treatment.

What kind of pest control products do you use?

All treatments are tailored to address your pest problems and chosen based on a number of factors: types of pests, time of year, location, and more. For a complete list of products we use, visit aptivepestcontrol.com/our-products
