SPRING ACTION PLAN

Help Protect Your Home From Spring Pests

The data tells us more pests are coming this spring than last. Here’s what Aptive’s experts recommend doing right now to make your home a harder target.

01

Seal Entry Points

Check doors, windows, and foundation cracks. Rodents can squeeze through gaps the size of a dime. Wasps and ants exploit any unsealed gap around pipes and utility lines.

02

Eliminate Moisture Sources

Clear gutters, fix leaky pipes, and address standing water. Moisture is the primary attractant for ants, roaches, and rodents seeking shelter as temperatures rise.

03

Declutter Storage Areas

Garages, basements, and attics are prime nesting territory. Reduce clutter and store items in sealed containers. Cardboard boxes are a rodent’s ideal nesting material.

04

Clear Your Perimeter

Trim back shrubs and tree branches away from the home. Remove leaf piles and wood debris. A 12–inch clearance between mulch and your foundation makes a real difference.

05

Secure Food & Trash

Use sealed containers for pantry items. Ensure outdoor trash cans have tight-fitting lids. Don’t leave pet food out overnight — it’s one of the top attractants for rodents.

06

Schedule a Professional Treatment
DIY measures treat what you can see. Professional technicians create a protective barrier before pest season peaks, targeting entry points and nesting sites the untrained eye misses entirely.

Data-Backed
Spring Pest Intelligence

Most of the US is likely to experience an increase in pests like ants, rodents, and wasps this spring largely due to a warmer than average winter. A warm winter allows pest populations to remain larger than average — they hibernate, they don’t die. By the time you see one ant on your kitchen counter, there’s almost certainly a much bigger population you’re not seeing. Spring is the window. The earlier you treat, the easier it is to keep populations from establishing in the first place.
